Reward Chart Template

Encouraging and rewarding people makes them more productive. This is true for children as well. Children need to be rewarded for what they do to achieve the behavioral goals you have set for them.

It is important to have a proper system that rewards children at school or home. This will motivate them and make them want to work hard. A reward chart can be used here to let children know that their good work is being rewarded.

What is a reward chart?

These charts can even show some positive behaviors and goals kids should achieve. For instance, this can include saying “please” when asking for something.

What does a reward chart do?

The reward chart records children’s positive behavior, making it easier to know whether they are meeting the behavioral goals you have set for them. The chart can help guide kids toward good behavior because when they do something good, they will be rewarded for it, which will be recorded in the chart.

How do you create a reward chart?

You can make the reward chart for a school or home setting. Include the important details on the chart, such as the following:

Format of chart:

Create the chart carefully so that it is simple for children to fill in and read. It should also look good and attract kids. Give the chart a heading like “(Name of Child)’s Reward Chart.” This will make it easier to know who the chart is for at a glance.

Details in the chart:

The chart should include important information about your behavioral goals for the kid. You can then include the details connected to this. The column section can consist of the days of the week, and the row section can contain the behavior points. In the row section, you can have headings such as Brush Teeth, Make Bed, Clean up after Meal, Play Outside, Feed the Cat, Complete Homework, Clean Room, Take a Shower, etc.

Depending on the child’s age and the behavioral goals you are aiming to achieve, you can create precise headings for the row section. If the child has completed the action, include a tick in the appropriate box or add a smiley face. A sad face can be added if the task has not been completed.

Design:

You can design the chart attractively by including color and images. The chart will be designed according to the child’s age and gender. If it is for a girl, you can add colors like pink, purple, etc. The images can be those that your kid is fond of.

For instance, if your child likes the under-the-sea theme, you can include images of dolphins, seaweed, etc. Kids will be drawn to charts like this. You can stick the chart on the wall, the fridge, or wherever it will be clear for your kid and you to see.

Motivate your child using a reward chart.

If your kid is trying to alter their behavior, they will be encouraged with a reward chart, showing them that they have worked hard. In this way, the child will be able to remain motivated. Rewarding a child can reinforce good behavior, making them more likely to behave like this in the future. The reward chart will let you know whether your kid behaves how you want them to.

When you feel annoyed with your child, you can look at the reward chart and concentrate on the positive points that your child has. If you give your kid stickers immediately after the behavior that you want them to do, it will reinforce this particular behavior. You can even praise the kid to enhance this further. The reward chart will, therefore, help you teach your kid or kids to behave appropriately.
